TUFI

TUFI was established to promote Israeli-Palestinian trade union co-operation and strengthen the links between the Israeli, Palestinian and British trade union movements.

Over the last few years, Israeli and Palestinian trade unions have been setting an example of co-operation in the region; something which was recently praised by the United Nations.

In 2008 the Histadrut (Israeli TUC) and the Palestine General Federation of Trades Unions (PGFTU) signed an agreement to base future relations on negotiation, dialogue and joint initiatives to advance “fraternity and co-existence”. This has led to a number of other historic agreements between unions representing major sectors - such as Transport and Construction - in the two sides' intertwined economies.

At this time of unprecedented trade union co-operation, TUFI works to encourage the British trade union movement to play a positive role and campaign against the counter-productive and damaging "boycott Israel" calls from a minority of trade unions in the UK. Learn more about what TUFI does here.

Delegations to Israel & Palestine

TUFI_Events

TUFI leads large delegations of trade unionists to Israel and Palestine once or twice a year, helping trade unionists gain a better understanding of the issues.

"A thought–provoking and well-organised trip, one which highlighted the needs of workers on both sides and vividly demonstrated the significance of a peaceful solution and its importance for both Palestinian and Israeli trade unions. If you get the opportunity to go, then do it!"

Rob Sneddon
